| Pretty basic question, and I think it's one that people often dismiss, but it's still decently fun.
Myself, I basically, just tried everything out, and a tiger thing with a freakishly awesome tail was just the best thing I could think of. I could pretty much act as any animal, or even gender, and no one'd ever know, so yeah, it was just cause tigers are... Well... Awesome.
what about you people, did your Fursona come from anything special?

| Mine... well, I'm not really sure where mine came from. I absolutely love felines, but otherwise I've been drawing myself as a tiger since... well... 5th... 6th grade... ish? A long while ago, anywhoo. Don't remember why, but the species just stuck all this time.
I share my first name with my fursona and use one I came up with as her last name; the middlename comes from some story stuff that never saw the light of day. As far as traits go, more or less every aspect of my fursona is based on my dreams, hopes, wants, or particular things that define me, such as the wavy hair and split lip. Never healed right, even after 10 years =P

| I knew I was a kitty since I was little, but it wasn't until I discovered the fandom that I became a tiger. (Partly thanks to Sparrow, wasn't for you, I wouldn't be the kitty I am today, Mr. Coax me in talking x3)
Lately I've been switching between a Tiger and a house cat, I don't feel the wild and exotic nature of the tiger fits me anymore, I just feel like a small humble housecat, and all he needs are cuddles and such. I've grown kind of soft since I first started this whole furry business.

| Always been a horsie. :3
Current fursona was originally from Furcadia and has since evolved to look more like me. Except I don't have blue hair.
...and I'm not a horse. Depressingly.

| When I was in college, one of the courses I took just to get required credit towards graduation was a speech class. Not in how to speak but how to make public speeches. One of the early assignments was to interview friends and ask them some questions. I don't remember clearly whether we were given a set list of questions or if we were allowed to think up our own, but one of the questions I asked was, "What animal do I seem most like to you?" Something along those lines anyway. The answer I got back was "coyote."
So it was natural when, shortly after I graduated, when I get interested in furry, I became a coyote, at least as my "normal" self.

| Honestly, the gator persona came about as an excuse to be a gator. When I was younger, people wore University of Florida fan shirts, but the gators would be anthro: strong, feral and mean looking. Still, I didn't wanna be off-putting. Khorax originally was meant to be a Aztec warrior. Over time, he developed more of a paunch until he became the husky form he is now. As time went on, he became less of a warrior type and more silly, goofy and a bit thick headed. There's a dragon version (he has dragon's blood), a Bear version (yay Transformation), and now a Tiger (Thanks to Sparrow. <3 Tigers). | |

| Ooooh ho. Long story teim! Dear god did I just spell time wrong on purpose. I think I did. DEAR GODS THE INTERNETS HAS INFECTED MY BRAIN! Any way. I did a combination of finding my furry self before I found the fandom and finding the fandom before I found my furry self. When I was a wee lass my grandfather had himself a collection of Breyer figurines. Back in the day when they used to be cool, not just plastic crap toys for kids. Any way, I would sit and look at them for hours, there were always a few that were my favorites. One was a tomato red stallion who was very showy in posture, another was a black and white patched horse, one was a Shetland pony and her colt, Another was a dapple grey. My favorite beyond all those was this sitting donkey. Moving on from there I eventually inherited the little donkey and sort of mellowed out in my fascination with the Breyer figurines. Around the 7th grade I became fascinated with webcomics and anime/manga. So I of course, emulating my favorite webcomic artists, created a persona of sorts. She started off very much thinner than she is now and didn't really look a lot like me. Slowly she grew chunkier and more squat looking, like the creator. As I got into posting things on DA I noticed a phenomenon. Furries. Oh gods they were everywhere. So I started to create a fursona. At first it was a mutt of a dog because I felt it fit me. Well it didn't really, other than it was plain, humble in appearance, and a bit of an outcast. But personality wise it just didn't fit. I kept it any way for a little bit. That was untill I had an art assignment to draw an animal that represents your personality for homework. Well I thought about it all day untill some one called me an Ass on the bus. And then, viola! It was born. Well Sarcy's furry personality was born. So I fenagled it around and finally got to the design she is now. At first s he was very plain and boring. OH deary me. But I am now comfortable with my "totem" choice for a fursona and will be sticking with being an Ass for a very long time to come. | |
